Proposals to counter or mitigate Climate Change range from a massive reforestation effort (planting trees) and carbon emissions reductions, to somewhat scarier and expensive geo-engineering efforts, including atmospheric injections of fine-particles in order to reflect sunlight and cool the planet, underground storage of carbon dioxide, wind scrubbers to filter carbon dioxide from the air, ‘fertilization’ of oceans with iron ...to encourage growth of plankton, petrification of carbon dioxide, deflection of sunlight from the earth through the use of a giant space mirror spanning 600,000 square miles. Yes, folks, a giant space mirror.
What solution sounds most feasible from a grassroots, local government, state and nationwide basis? What solution is most closely linked to our natural connections with the earth and eco-systems? Which is most viable financially, with general impacts and implications known and understood?
YES--PLANTING TREES!
Please start the new year by planting a tree of your own, organizing friends, family, neighbors, schools, churches, temples, mosques, synagogues and other community groups to plant trees where ever possible! And support those organizations who are taking this effort further, both in planting trees and protecting old growth forests!
Please invite everyone you know, take a morning out to bring more life and health to our planet and our lives. Counter Climate Change, clean the air, and strengthen your connection to the living Earth!
